Preference for Hiring in Employment

It shall be the policy and practice of the Corporate Employers to recruit Corporate Team Members according or the following priorities:

First: Qualified candidates who are enrolled members of the Pueblo of Pojoaque.
Second: Qualified candidates who are not enrolled members of the Pueblo of Pojoaque, but who are spouses, significant others, or children of enrolled members of the Pueblo of Pojoaque. 
Third: Qualified candidates who are enrolled members of another (Non-Pojoaque) Indian Tribe.

JOB PURPOSE:   Provides food and beverage service to restaurant customers

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Handles all customer requests and complaints promptly and in a courteous manner
  • Greets customers
  • Writes down beverage and food orders, relays orders to bartender and cook
  • Serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and food orders to customers as ordered
  • Observes customers to fulfill any additional requests
  • Totals bills, accepts payment, and gives change
  • Maintains bank in accordance with banking procedures
  • Signs, counts, and balances bank
  • Clears and cleans tables; empties and cleans ashtrays
  • Other duties as assigned

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):

  • Must be at least 19 years old
  • Good verbal communication and customer relations skills
  • Ability to handle a variety of customer requests and personalities
  • Must be people oriented
  • Basic math skills
  • Money-handling skills
  • Must have basic English skills

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 6 months wait staff experience preferred
  • PPABC Liquor Certification or successful completion of the PPABC Liquor Certification course 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

  • Casino or hotel restaurant setting; Shift work; Required to work weekends, holidays, and overtime
  • Standing/Walking, 100% up to 4 hours at a time
  • Lifting/carrying up to 30 lbs. 
  • Exposure to cigarette smoke, noise and some cleaning chemicals
  • Must follow safety precautions and requirements
